Hey guys!
I’ve been asked the same question over and over again. That question is, “how do I become an ambassador, or how do I become an influencer?”
Build your instagram as if it’s a resume. Brands mostly work with instagrams they think they’re gonna benefit from. I started by modeling senior year of high school and I kinda just wanted to do things myself. I got tired of that life.
I also had a certain style back then. I was dressing very preppy. I wasn’t sponsored or anything, but I was still posting brands I genuinely loved to wear and eventually those brands took interest in me.
Always tag the brands and use hashtags, that are associated with them. My first real paid sponsorship didn’t come to me till like the middle of my sophomore year of college and that was the color contacts (ttdeye). That happened because I bought from them first and then posted a review on YouTube. I actually emailed them to receive a code to give people because it had gotten so many views, it was about 15k. They kept track of the analytics and payed me every time someone used the code. It got me a long time partnership with them.
Around that time I changed my style up once again, to dressing early 2000s and from using hashtags correctly that’s how I build my following.
Then when I transferred to MSU and I signed up with @influenster and you should too it’s free. All you got to do is post the products they send you. The first month, I received Garnier Fructis newest curly hair line and that’s how I started doing curly hair post. Then curly hair brands started sending me their products to make a post and review it. Also makeup brands too.
Then last summer I decided I wanted to do more fashion related post because of my major. I started again with just my personal clothes and tagged brands and eventually small clothing brands sent me stuff.
I just needed posts to build my Instagram before reaching out to brands. Once I did, I signed with influencer marketing agencies. So I can receive more brand deals. Then this last November, I partnered with Express.
I put the same filter on all my pictures so the overall look of my page looks put together and clean. Lastly, right before lockdown hit, I started getting more and more paid collabs. Definitely let me know if this worked for you and if you have any questions.
